The rubber boot outer, like all neoprene lined wellingtons is applied to a one piece neoprene sock. The neoprene sock forms the basis of the boot which is comfortable and warm. The rubber outer parts are applied by hand and form the shape and strength of the boot. The rubber is made from a high a high latex blend which makes the boot light, durable and flexible. This USA specification uses a much higher grade rubber than the UK specification boot
The neoprene sock is made from a sandwich that makes the neoprene tear resistant and above all comfortable and warm for the foot. The lining has a Nylon outer which resists tears. The middle sandwich is made from neoprene and this supplies most of the strength, insulation and comfort The inside of the boot is then lined with airmesh which keeps feet warm like the neoprene. Its main purpose is to supply ventilation combined with amazing wicking properties
The Airmesh lining on the inside of the boot offers insulation and amazing wicking properties. This lining is used to ventilate the foot and manage the perspiration that the foot produces. For more information concerning the management of internal boot moisture please see our article under FAQ’s that explains in more detail how none breathable footwear is designed to manage this.
The tread of the Muckboot Tack high is designed for general use on hard surfaces, paths and other similar activities. The low profile tread is ideal for working with animals as the tread will self clean after use.

How To Care For Your Muckboots
Muckboots USA are a high quality brand of wellington boots and will give you years of trouble free service. To extend the life of your Muckboots please follow the simple guide below.
Wash any dirt or animal waste from the outside of the boot after use with clean detergent free water. This is particularly important if you work with animals as the acid in the animal waste will attack the rubber and if it is in contact for long periods of time will make the rubber brittle and prone to cracking. We would suggest that if you do work with Dairy or Pigs that you look at the Bogs Ultra wellington or Aigle as these will resist liquid manure.
Store your wellington boots in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. Wellington boots stored in direct sunlight will fade and go brittle. This is because of the UVB light that will attack this natural product. Never store any rubber wellington boots for long periods of time in the back of a car.
Rubber wellington boots should not be used with fertilizers or chemicals in the commercial environment. For any safety equipment that meets the current EN345 guidelines please see our safety boot section. If you are using fertilizers or detergents in your own domestic garden, please wash the outside surface of the boots after use making sure that any residue has been removed.
If you find that your wellington boots slip slightly on the heel then you should fit a heel guard which will stop this from happening. Heel guards are a available on our site or from a very large high street chemist. They are made of suede leather and are self adhesive. Prices range from £2.99 per pair
Managing Internal Moisture
Please read our article on our FAQ’s page about managing internal moisture in your wellington boots. This is very important to read during cold snaps as the moisture will condense inside the wellington. The guide under FAQ’s give a clear guide on how this can be managed during these cold periods in particular if snow is covering the cold ground
