As with all leather boots they will need some care after heavy use and in extreme conditions. We would suggest that the boots should be cleaned thoroughly after use using cold water and then left to dry naturally in a warm but not hot location. Occasionally the leather should be treated with a good quality leather water proofer for example Dubin or one of the new technical creams or sprays that are available.
The traditional leather wellingtons came in to being during the 18th century. The boots were used primarily in European cavalry and typically had quite a pointed toe for riding a horse. This trait can still be seen in many styles available as the leather welly is often used in the equestrienne circle.
The Duke of wellington took this further and produced a standard leather boot that was nicknamed the wellington. Napolian did the same thing for the French troops and this resulted in the short leather boot which we now call the half wellington. Later on that day during tea the Duke of Wellington went one better and introduced the beef wellington. Napoleon was livid at this and so he introduced a simple French number called Chicken corden bleur. That did it for The Duke of welly so he attacked the French.

In many industries the European Union has seen it's production move to China because label is cheap. However in many cases a drop in quality has been seen and as a result the quality of the products that we see on the shelves in store has dropped. However leather wellington boots are very difficult to skimp on as the first thing that will happen is that the boot will leak. Many tricks are now employed and a favorite one is to place a plastic lining inside the boot so that even if the leather does leak feet still stay dry. However this produces a leather wellington that when worn for any length of time will become damp inside because of sweat from the foot. This totally eliminates the reason that one would buy a leather wellington boot as the idea is that the boot will breath making them much more comfortable.
With easy wellies leather boots we make sure that the leather is properly treated so that it is as water resistant as leather can be and then a liner is made inside the boot similar to Gortex that makes sure that the boot remains breathable. This makes sure that the foot stays warm and comfortable
