Neoprene Wellies

Neoprene lined wellington boots first appeared in the late 1990’s.  The neoprene lined wellington boot changed the welly boot market so dramatically in a very short period of time.  The first neoprene lined wellingtons appeared a little ugly however it soon became apparent that the neoprene lined wellington was both comfortable, practical and very warm.

Initially the neoprene lined wellington boot appeared in North America because of the cold conditions  often experienced in the winter months.  The neoprene wellington boot quickly came across the Atlantic and soon became a firm favourite with anyone who had to work ( or play) outside during the winter months. 

The neoprene lining inside the wellington not only offers insulation against the cold, it also supplied cushioning inside the neoprene lined wellington , indeed many wearers of neoprene lined wellington boots will often say that their wellingtons are as comfortable as wearing slippers .

During recent years we have seen more improvements from the early basic neoprene lined welliies and one of the key improvements that have made neoprene lined wellies not just a winter product but a spring and summer wellington as well is the addition of a wicking lining.

The wicking lining is generally 2 or 3mm thick and is attached to the neoprene outer to form one seamless boot.  This has a very similar structure to a honeycomb and it is designed to wick moisture away from the foot so that even in warm weather  the boots stays fresh.
